KC Wizards Chasing Playoff Spot

October 21, 2008 by Ole · 1 Comment

KC Wizards LogoThe Wizards won their final home game of the season last weekend, beating the San Jose Earthquake 2-1 and keeping their playoff chances alive. They are one of five teams that still have a chance, along with New York, DC United, Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids.

There are several sites with breakdowns of what it will take but the key is the Wizards have to match the New York result to make the playoffs. Which means if the Red Bull lose their game Thursday at Chicago, the Wizards will be in. That game starts at 8:00 pm and is the featured game on ESPN2, I’ll be at Coester’s. Come join me in cheering on the Fire, for the Wizards benefit :)

A Jackie update is in order as well – Jack earned his 7th assist on Arnaud’s goal Saturday, which puts him at #1 on the team. It was also his 15th career assist tying him with Chris Henderson for 12th on the Wizards list.

And finally, for every goalkeeper who’s dreamed of scoring a goal in the run of play, I present…
Danny Cepero, Red Bull NY goalkeeper and goal scorer, via an 80 yard direct kick
