The Bears knocked off the #6 regionally ranked Ace’s Wednesday night by a 2-0 margin in Evansville.
Despite being out shot by the Aces (7-5-1, 0-2-0) the Bears downed the Aces with stellar goal-play by Alex Riggs. The Bears opened the scoring four minutes before the half when Gerard Barbero dibbled in and blasted in a shot that ricocheted off of the crossbar from 20 yards. The goal was Barbero’s first of the season and gave the Bears the 1-0 lead.
The Bear’s move to 1-1 in Conference play, 4-7-3 overall.
The Bear’s will host the #3 nationally-ranked Creighton Blue Jays on Tuesday October 21st at 7:00 pm at Plaster Stadium. The last time the Blue Jay’s visited, Springfield set a soccer attendance record while earning a tie on a late goal by Justin Douglass.
The community came out for the game at Drury against #1 (at the time) Northern Kentucky and made a difference in the Panther’s win, that is apparent. Can we do the same for the boys on National & Grand?
