Whoever would have thought that your dad would start the chain reaction with us. I thank God he did. You were and are an amazing person. Everyone who met you would agree. You will always be remembered in my heart where you have always been and always will start. I miss and love you so much. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends, and especially Blaine. Help him throught this time like you usually do as the big brother. I’ll be seeing you again in the future.

My father was the soccer coach for derek at central methodist university where he played soccer in college. My whole family, is deeply saddened from the event. i hope all the best for the medlock family. My father and I cannot believe such a good person can be taken away in such a cruel way.
RIP Derek, we will always remember you
