(Heath) Melugin Magical

Couldn’t pass up sending you over to this story in the Missouri State Standard, the student newspaper:

Missouri State coach Jon Leamy said he has finally figured out what Heath Melugin does best: score goals. Now, Leamy’s hoping the freshman forward can continue to boost the Bears like he has done in recent games.

Melugin scored two goals Tuesday night as the Bears beat Central Arkansas 2-1 at Plaster Field.

“He just has a knack for scoring goals,” Leamy said. “He’s a big, strong kid that is capable of making plays happen.”

Of course, most of us did know that right?

It’s also a great example of why I spend the time I do at College soccer games. Based upon the traffic patterns I get on this website, whether for individual stories or photos, its pretty easy to figure out the ‘money’ is in the High School game. Not the millions that the local rag spent to create a high school sport site that is slow, difficult to navigate and manage. And too narrowly focused, despite their own research that other sports bring in significant traffic.

Luis Arroyave, who writes the Red Card column for the Chicago Tribune, seems to have figured it out however. Great story about the University of Illinois-Chicago game this week when they hosted Ohio State. I would have dragged a few of my friends out to this one if I was still there and it was a great reminder of why I keep going out. You should join me more often folks.

Believe it or not, I no longer like being in a college atmosphere.

It makes me feel old, it makes me miss college and it makes me say things like, “Man, when I was a senior in high school, she was only a…” Well, you get the picture. I rarely even go back to Madison, the place where I spent the four greatest years of my life. It’s too depressing for me.
