Missouri State Bears Beat Central Arkansas on Melugin’s Brace

Missouri State Bears – 2
Central Arkansas Bears – 1
Heath Melugin (Kickapoo 2008) scored in the 4th and 87th minute Tuesday night to help the Bear’s to the win at home. The first came from Johannes Demarzi’s throw-in and the second from Jordan Barne’s cross and both were necessary for the win as the UCA Bear’s scored 37 seconds after the second goal. The UCA goal was a result of indecision in the offensive end, allowing the visitors to steal the ball and initiate a successful counter-attack.

The MSU Bears website, which includes the annoying Homecoming entry ad that you cannot opt out of, only has cumulative statistics through October 3rd but it doesn’t take significant math skills to see that Melugin’s three goals in the past three games have leapfrogged him to the top of the scoring list for the Bears.

The Bears (3-6-3) will travel to Drake (8-2-0) on Saturday October 11th for a game at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, Iowa – home of the Regional’s in 2007 and somewhat recovered from the Spring floods apparently.
