SLU Billikens and Northwestern Wildcats End Tied 0-0

St Louis University Billikens vs Northwestern WildcatsSt Louis University Billikens vs Northwestern Wildcats

The clash between the Top 10 ranked teams (the Post-Dispatch summarizes the different polls below) was an interesting game last night as SLU controlled the tempo in the first half with only one real opportunity while the Wildcats came out in the second half and slowly but certainly took a more prominent role.

The NSCAA coaches poll comes out on Tuesday, but three other major ones came out on Monday. Soccer America has SLU ranked third, then Creighton No. 7 and Northwestern No. 10. College Soccer News has Creighton 3, Northwestern 5 and SLU 7. And Soccer Times has Creighton 5, Northwestern 10 and SLU 11.

The Billiken’s were their own worst enemy as the Wildcats best opportunities came as they took advantage of poor passes, allowing quick counter-attacks. There was one goal called back for offsides and the photos show how close Matt Eliason came with his header in the 1st OT. As always, the Billiken’s have a nice write up.

Now it’s time for me to hit the road back to Springfield from my birthday hiatus. Thanks to all who kept us up-to-date on the local scores. I’ll see you at Cooper #1 tonight for Glendale vs Kickapoo!
