This Week in Southwest Missouri Soccer

It’s a big Tournament week with the Christian County Tournament hosted by Ozark and Nixa, the Bulldogs are holding the Rolla Invitational and the New Covenant Warriors have a Tournament as well. It looks like their might be a Frisco League Tournament as well. I’m still sorting out my calendar and if you haven’t shared your info with me yet (Rolla, NCA, Frisco) I’d appreciate details.

As to games I’ll be covering, I’m modifying my approach somewhat this year. Since I don’t travel outside of Springfield as much as in the past, early in the season I want to see the visiting teams as much as possible to ensure I get a look at their players. That coupled with the fact that even early District games have less impact as teams are still finding their form. So here’s my tentative calendar:
Monday – Crocker Lions visit Central Bulldogs – the Class 1 3rd place squad from last year visits
Tuesday – Camdenton visits Kickapoo – the Class 3 3rd place team host the Lakers
Thursday – Rogersville hosts Hillcrest – still haven’t seen the new Class 2 squad!
Friday – Jeff City visits Parkview AND some Tournament play TBD

On the College front, the Missouri State Lady Bears host Big 12 foe Kansas on Friday evening. 7:00 pm at Plaster. Then on Sunday the Drury Panther’s host Southern Indiana in their first home GLVC game. The Women play at 12:00 pm and the Men play at 2:30 pm.

Missouri Southern hosts the Southwest Baptist Bearcats on Saturday at noon. These games are always excellent as the MIAA Conference has 5-6 teams with a shot at the top, including these two. Add it to your list on Saturday!
