The Bears had the fans on the edge of their seats for the final 30 min tonight but were unable to get a game-tying goal. Centenary Sophomore Brian Hurlburt got the game winner in the 25th minute (pictured) when he got on the end of a ball that found it’s way to the far side of the box on a cross by Todd Faulkinberry.

The Bears outshot the Gents 15-10 and were able to mount an active attack during much of the evening but the opportunities generated went fallow. The starting lineup featured 3 freshmen, with Barnes, Buckenheimer and Vania from front to back. For much of the second half, there were 4 freshman on the pitch at a time with Melugin and Hoffman earning minutes.

Here’s hoping the Bear’s get some rest and are prepared to continue the battle in New Mexico next week when they face Caly Poly and Akron. The Cal Poly Mustangs are ranked in the Top 10 in the Far West while Akron Zips are #5 in the current national poll.

Photos and details later. Congratulations to Gent’s Coach David Orr for his first victory as a college coach. It was also the first win for Centenary over the Bears after 7 previous losses.

Drake extended their early season victory streak, winning 3-0 against the Cleveland State Vikings in the early game. They are now 4-0 and have not allowed a goal yet.
