And it’s important to us because former Missouri State Bear goal keeper Lance Parker (pictured) is part of the developmental roster at Chivas USA and is one of the choices available for Preki. Guzan is headed for England according to a Chivas owner quoted in the LA Times
“Yes, it’s true,” Vergara said. “He’s leaving for Europe, to England specifically, and we’re very happy and very glad that another Chivas player is going to Europe. We’re going to replace him with a very talented goalkeeper from Saprissa in Costa Rica. A very young one but very talented.”
There currently are three goalkeepers on Saprissa’s roster: veteran Jose Francisco Porras, 37, Fausto Gonzalez, 30, and Keilor Navas Gamboa, 21.
Vergara owns Saprissa as well according to the article which makes the possible transfer/signing fairly easy it would seem. I’ll keep you up-to-date on any more activity in this arena, especially with Chivas visiting the Kansas City Wizards on August 9th. Hmmm….
