More good news from Rockford today. In the second game of the three game round-robin, the Springfield SC U17 boys team earned a tie in their game against the Wizard Juniors. Devon Newport scored for our boys, his second in two games.
Today’s game had the possibility of determining the group winner if one team had been able to earn a win. I’m still trying to determine the tie-breakers, assuming both Springfield and Wizards win tomorrow. Goal differential? Goals given up? Anyone have some details?

I copied and pasted the following from the Region II website.
7.2 TIE BREAKERS
In the event teams are tied on the basis of points earned, the team’s placement will be
determined in accordance with the following sequential criteria:
7
a. Winner of head to head competition (this criteria not used if more than two
teams
tied).
b. Winner of most games.
c. Goal spread (goals scored minus goals against) with a maximum of four goals
per game.
d. Fewest goals allowed.
e. Kicks from the penalty mark (as described in Section 7.2.2)
Note: If more than two teams are tied, the sequence will be followed until a team
is eliminated. The remaining teams will then restart the sequence at point “b”
above until the tie is broken.
The SSC and KC Wizards Juniors are tied all the way down to d. Fewest goals allowed where SSC holds a 1-2 edge. If they can win 4-0, they are in the semi’s no matter what. Otherwise it depends on how the two teams do in their final matches.
Jerry – the way I read the tie-breakers, SSC is ahead at C:
KC has 4-1 score in first game for a +3 while SSC was 4-0 in the first game for a +4 (maximum of 4 goals count).
SSC also has an edge in GA with 0.
A win is necessary (usually is at these events) and equaling the differential that KC might earn is second.
I’m not in Rockford, but what I here is it is spread, up to 4 goals. I like you’re interpretation better, just hope the boys can make it a non issue.
at 1/2
SSC 1-0
KC 0-1
congrats on a good run U17 boys
