After nearly 18 months of planning and preparation, the U.S. will take its first step on the road towards the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa when they host Barbados on Sunday, June 15 in Carson, Calif. Kickoff at The Home Depot Center is set for 4 p.m. CT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
Barbados currently lies 100 places below the U.S. in the FIFA World Rankings. Their roster is comprised mostly of domestic players, and of the rest, only a handful, including Crystal Palace midfielder Paul Ifill, have top flight experience in one of the world’s top leagues.
The second leg of the Second Round series will be played Sunday, June 22 at 3 p.m. ET in Barbados. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN Classic and Galavision.
