Zach Alumbaugh to take Assistant Coach Position at Loras College
Zach Alumbaugh (pictured on right), the Director of External Affairs for the Springfield Soccer Club, has accepted a position with Loras College. Alumbaugh will serve as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach and Goalkeeper Coach for the Women’s team.
The 2007 season was a memorable one for the Duhawks as they reached the NCAA Division III Final Four where they eventually lost in a penalty kick shootout. Zach graduated from Loras and the opportunity to return to his alma mater was an exciting one. “I have really enjoyed my time with SSC and will always look back at these years as important ones in my life. Having the chance to work with so many great players, coaches and supportive parents I feel like we have put SSC on the soccer map as the place to play if you live in the Springfield area.” Alumbaugh said.
Loras opens their pre-season training with a team trip to Costa Rica in August.
Zach will stay with the club through the month of June where he will make final preparations for the SSC Summer Soccer Camps and assist with the Club Tryouts June 16-18, 2008. “We will definitely miss Zach both on and off the field. It is always bittersweet when a staff member has an opportunity to move on from the club, but we look at it as if being associated with such a great club as SSC helped him get this opportunity. We look forward to watching the success of the Duhawks this fall and for
years to come. I want to thank him for all of his work these last five years in helping make SSC what it is today.” said Jeremy Alumbaugh Director of Soccer Operations.
Plans are underway for a going away party later this summer and more information will be available later.
