PDL Soccer: KC Brass Defeat Springfield Demize

On a 22nd minute goal by Levi Coleman from a cross by JD Warman, the KC Brass earned their third win over the Demize in the first month of the season. The Demize, while outshot by the Brass 7-3, had several opportunities to tie the game Friday night. A ball that fell near the 10-yard line in the box, following fine work by Eishun Yoshida on a free kick a few minutes after the Brass scored, as well as a shot on goal in stoppage time at the end of the first were the best early chances.

The Demize worked hard throughout the match to equalize as goal keeper Chris Hanlon blunted several Brass attacks in the second, including a diving stop at the feet of Haggai Leboo (see video) in the 87th minute. The final six minutes (including stoppage) was a relentless effort to score but despite the improved organization and overall play, led by midfielder Nikola Katic, the inability to capitalize on corner kicks in particular led to another loss.

The Demize will host the Colorado Rapids U23 team this evening at 7:30 pm, preceded by a Reserve game against SpringHigh Select at 5:00 pm. Lake Country Soccer, Field #1.
