Coester’s - Soccer Fans Come In Daily Now

From the Sunday News-Leader, our sponsor Coester’s was featured in an article Cost of food has eateries trying to cope

Finally, he has tried to be proactive and broaden the restaurant’s appeal, reaching out to new clientele. “We try not to blame it on the economy,” he said. “We try to find out other reasons for what’s happening and what we can do to promote business and bring other clientele in here.”

Recently, Coe said, he began courting soccer fans, who have few venues in Springfield to watch televised games. Coe signed up for an expanded cable package featuring soccer games and began posting invitations on soccer-oriented Web-sites.

“We’ve got a lot of soccer fans to come in daily now,” he said Tuesday, as several fans could be heard cheering a game in the background.

I enjoyed the MLS game Saturday night at Coester’s, featuring the LA Galaxy vs Chivas. Tuesday and Wednesday this week there will be Champions League semifinals at 1:30 pm. Come out for a late lunch and support my sponsor as well as help establish a new soccer tradition in this region. Information.

For those of you who have visited Coester’s, how about leaving a comment about your experience!

The atmosphere is great. I am happy to finally have a place to watch soccer in the company of others who enjoy the sport. The food is also very good.

Steve, I have not watched soccer there, but did catch a MSU basketbal game when the Bears were playing in the MVC tourney in St. Louis. I thought a part of the restaurant would really be focused on that game. The games was on the TVs, but the sound was not turned up the hear the commentary. I hope for ‘big’ games they would consider providing adequate sound for those interested. Maybe they are doing that for soccer.

Steve, Coester’s has not turned on the audio of the game everytime I’ve been there but it was on last week during our lunch session. And that’s when there was a STL Cardinal’s day game on as well. And we’ve also had a single TV at the bar turned on while other audio was available to the rest of the restaurant. So bring your friends and create the environment you want :)

I find the absence of audio to be an improvement when watching most MLS matches.
