Weekend Tournament Update

There are a large number of Tournament games scheduled for this weekend. Here’s some previews I’ve found

Small school’s best line up for Ursuline tourney this weekend

Ursuline’s tourney gets underway Thursday and runs through Sunday. The field of teams is deep and loaded with local small school talent. Visitation (5-3), Villa Duchesne (0-3) and John Burroughs (0-4) are that small school talent.

Now, their records might be ugly, but that doesn’t tell the whole story, as all of these schools schedule tougher opponents during the season in preparation for the postseason. The records might be ugly, but the level of play is not. “Villa and Viz are both strong this year,” Morgan said. “Kickapoo is coming up again, we’re excited about that.”

Lady Jays, Helias set for this weekend’s Capital City Invitational
Friday’s other first-round games will pit Rockwood Summit against Springfield Catholic at 5 p.m. and Pattonville against Rolla at 7 p.m. Pattonville is ranked 10th in the latest St. Louis large school poll. Update - Friday’s games have been canceled. Here is Saturday\’s Capital City Schedule.

    Lebanon Tournament

Lebanon, Camdenton, Northwest House Springs, Belleville West, Fulton and Nixa are participating in a round-robin format. I’ve been notified that all of the Lebanon tournament games on Saturday have been moved up one hour – we will start at 9:00am instead of 10:00. Here’s the schedule.

    West Plains Tournament

Waynesville are the defending champions and return this year along with Cape Girardeau Central, Moberly, Notre Dame (St.Louis), Parkview, Sikeston, Valley View (Jonesboro, AR) and hosts West Plains.

    Sedalia Tournament

I know Glendale and Ozark are returning to this tournament again this year. Hosts Sedalia Smith-Cotton are coming off their first ever win over JC Helias as well as their fine showing at the Kickapoo Shootout.

The Ursuline Tournament was a near total slop-out. The Thursday evening games were played, but both Friday evening and Sat. games were canceled due to heavy rain and poor field conditions. The local schools were to play a couple of games on Sunday but Kickapoo elected not to stay over night again in order to play a single game on Sunday.
