Kickapoo Shootout, Day Two

Kickapoo Shootout, Day Two
Saturday was as cold as I have been in quite awhile which wasn’t conducive to shooting photos, by the time I pressed the shutter… well, you get the idea. At least the Catholic girls were keeping warm (above). That didn’t keep the ladies from playing some good soccer, especially in the case of the championship games.

In the Brown Division, Lafayette scored 7 while holding their opponents scoreless before facing the STA Stars, currently #2 ranked in the state and as high as #10 in some national polls while out-scoring their opponents 11-1. Led by Nikki Rivera, their diminutive field general who has won a national championship with Kickapoo’s Chealsey Russell (St Louis SC U15 girls in 2005), the Lancer’s earned the hardware on Saturday.

For the Gold Division, it was a pair of large schools from opposite ends of the State. The Jays have to feel confident following this weekend about their ability to win close games, as all three games were 1 goal wins this weekend. Parkway West impressed with their sportsmanship and strong team play. The Glendale Falcons were the top local finisher, earning 3rd Place in the Gold Division, going 2-1 with their one loss to the Champion Jays while defeating Jeff City and Gibault.
