Friday’s High School Soccer Report

Central Bulldogs - 4 (OT)
Hillcrest Hornets - 3
Central beat Hillcrest in overtime. It was tied three three and went to PK’s at the Neosho tournament.

Rogers (AR) - 2 (OT)
Glendale Falcons - 1
The Falcon’s conceded a goal in the first half on a very nice header. Senior Lou Opfer Sophomore Lindsay Sprouse, picking up where she left off last year, knotted the score late in the second half. Due to the visitors early afternoon game against Kickapoo tomorrow, the game went to PK’s. Rogers converted 3 to the Falcon’s 1 for the decision.

Waynesville Tigers - 3
Washington Jays - 0
Playing on the artificial surface at Waynesville, the Tigers got goals from Katie Pritchard, Erica Combs and senior Captain Lauren Kelly to earn the shutout win over the visitors.

West Plains Zizzers - 7
Mt View Liberty Eagles - 0
The Zizzer’s opened the scoring in the 6th minute by Emma Ray who also scored in the 4th minute of the second half. Rachel Skelly (2), Beth Kittle, Michelle Esterle and Megan Lowe also scored in the shutout. Dani Valade, Mollie Plocher earned assists.

Mountain Views first game ever with a team made up of Freshmen and Sophomores I believe.

Ozark at Willard canceled due to field conditions

Wow! What a game! This Glendale team is going to surprise some people this season. Having said that I will say that nerves of steel during the game turned to butter when it came to pk’s. The only freshman on the team (whom any college coaches that are aware of at this point in her young career, must be drooling over at the prospect of recruiting), calmly walked up as the first Glendale kicker, and froze the goalie by sending a screamer into the upper corner of the goal. The goalie had to be thinking, at this point, “Yikes, if the rest of them are this good, I’m cooked.” Unfortunately, the promise held during the game, of a team that never quit after being down 1 to nothing early and stayed in it to tie it with two minutes left to play, did not materialize. Three upper classman could not find the goal at all. The difference between champions and those that also ran are made up of such moments as these. Rogers players planted three goals and the only missed shot came off of a crossbar miss. Glendale girls you played admirably, but the game is not over until the game is over. I give an honorable mention to Lindsay Sprouse for her tough, competitive play. And no, I’m not related to any of the players. Wow! what a game!
