Just got word that the Springfield SC has partnered with a pair of organizations in town to hold a fund raiser. They are going to play a 24 hour Marathon match. The game begins this Friday the 11th at 4pm and will finish on Saturday at 4pm. Anyone in the Springfield soccer community is welcome to help with donations. Along with the marathon game we have partnered up with KOLR 10 who will be doing a sock and underwear drive as well. Here’s the press release they sent me.
The Community Partnership of the Ozarks and Springfield Soccer Club Team Up to Help Kids in Need this weekend – January 11th & 12th, 2008
On January 11th and 12th, 2007, the Springfield Soccer Club will host a 24-hour soccer marathon soccer match as a charity/fundraising event. Players from the 26 SSC club teams will participate in the marathon. All donations will be split 50/50 with the Community Partnership of the Ozarks to benefit needy children. The Community Partnership of the Ozarks and Springfield Soccer Club are both 501(c)3 non-profit organizations.

The Community Partnership of the Ozarks is about building relationships and partnerships to facilitate positive change. One of their main objectives is designing new ways to use resources to help children in need. The Community Partnership of the Ozarks directly benefits children who are in need of the basic essentials such as food and hygiene products here in Springfield and surrounding communities.
Springfield Soccer Club seeks to develop soccer players to their fullest athletic, educational, and social potential. This will be accomplished by providing a high level of education and training necessary for each individual player to be their best on and off the field.
This event provides an opportunity for the SSC players to contribute to the community and their club, while doing what that they do best-play soccer! We encourage the support of all SSC families and friends.
