Good news from Western Missouri - the Division I UMKC Kangaroo’s are adding Women’s soccer, beginning with the Fall 2009 season.
Position Description: The University of Missouri Kansas City, a member of The Summit League and the NCAA, is accepting applications for the Division I Head Coach position for its Women’s Soccer program.
Requirements: The candidate will organize and administer all aspects of the women’s soccer program in accordance with the NCAA, Summit League, and university rules and regulations. This will include but will not be limited to: coaching, recruitment of qualified student athletes with a commitment to academic enterprise (APR/GSR) and student-athlete welfare, competitive scheduling, conditioning, budget preparation, camp scheduling and other community events, ability to successfully integrate with internal campus community as well as external constituents and other related duties as assigned by the athletics administration. Evening and weekend work is required as well as traveling with and supervising the women’s soccer team during practices and scheduled away competitions. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The position is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits and reports to the Assistant Athletics Director for External Relations. The women’s soccer program is a new first year program that will be competing for the first time during the fall semester of 2009 in NCAA Division I and The Summit League.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum of three to five years successful soccer coaching experience at the collegiate level is required. Soccer coaching experience at the Division I collegiate level is highly preferred. Must be able to follow the requirements of the NCAA, Summit League, and the mission of UMKC. Must be able to communicate effectively and foster positive relations with prospective and enrolled student-athletes, fellow coaches, athletics and university administration, and the general public; and have a clear understanding of the role of athletics within the university community. All final candidates will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check prior to beginning employment.
