The draw for the next World Cup, to be held in 2010 in South Africa, was completed today in that country. There are some interesting storylines already, including England being drawn into the same group with Croatia, the team that just knocked them out of the Euro 2008 competition. The US is part of the North and Central America and Caribbean (CONCACAF) region which has been broken up in to three groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Semifinals.
The US is in Group One and will play its first World Cup qualifier next June against the winner of an opening-round series between Barbados and Dominica and could face Cuba in its regional semifinals group. Here are the first round group games:

Guatemala_Turks and Caicos Islands-St. Lucia winner
