The Bolivar Liberators are the hosts of this nine-team group and have provided the following game reports. I caught parts of the Carthage-Webb City match and Carl Junction-Bolivar match and offer commentary on the games. I will have photos up on Sunday.
Cassville Wildcats - 5
Marshfield Blue Jays - 1
The Wildcats scored 3 in the first half, and a pair in the second, while moving to the semifinals on Monday. Goals were scored by Omar Valenzuela, Ryan Schlichtsman, and Uziel Franco (3). Robert Martin scored for Marshfield via PK in the second half.
Carthage Tigers - 5
Webb City Cardinals - 3
It was 3-2 in the Tigers favor when I arrived in the 50th minute, after having taken the lead again after the Cardinals had tied the game early in the second half. That fluid score was a key part of this game between the #4 and #5 seeds. It took a pair of quick touches entering the offensive end to spring senior Mario Perez into the box as he eluded a pair of defenders who almost sandwiched him. His final touch was slipped past the charging keeper. Sophomore midfielder Juan Ortiz, with his heads up play to one touch the final ball to Perez, was responsible for sending him in.
Tiger goals were scored by Cole Beckham (3), Luke Bayless, and Mario Perez. Drew Henderson, Manny Alfaro, and TJ Martin scored for the Cardinals.
Bolivar Liberators - 4
Carl Junction Bulldogs - 1
The Liberators fended off an early opportunity by the Bulldogs when goalkeeper Dale Baker was able to tip senior Caleb Dye’s header off the crossbar in the 2nd minute, an important save. Two minutes later the Liberator’s lost leading scorer (32) senior Peter Casey to injury, likely for good. So when in the 9th minute, Adam Spaulding put Bolivar ahead 1-0 from Ryan Toombs cross, the Liberators were relieved.
It would take a quick opening second half however to give them the cushion needed against the upstart Bulldogs. The Liberators got their 2nd goal one minute in, Ryan Toombs from Matt Magnana’s corner kick; their 3rd by Nolan West in the 43rd minute; and the final goal in the 49th when Spaulding got his second, back-heeling to the near post a long throw-in by Magnana.
The Bulldogs got one back in the xxth minute from a direct kick.

Goals were scored by Chris Saner (2), Justin Scicluna, and Brice Hunt
