Drury Lady Panthers Host First Ever GLVC Playoff Game Sunday

Drury Panthers logoIt’s time to head over to Hutchen’s Field on Sunday to cheer on the Lady Panthers. The women have earned third place in the regular season and will host the Wisconsin - Parkside Norse at 1:00 pm. The game is the first Great Lakes Valley Conference playoff game for the ladies and a win will send them to the semifinals next weekend at a location to be determined (highest remaining seed from the four games being played Sunday will host).

The GLVC recently named their All-Conference team and the Panthers had three members of the squad earn recognition, including Freshman of the Year Jessie Sanderson (Jefferson City Jays). Sanderson made a big splash as a freshman in the GLVC in 2007. She led the league during the conference season in goals against average (0.37), save percentage (.933) and shutouts (8). Sanderson has also been awarded the GLVC Freshman of the Year Award for her strong efforts. She helped the Panthers to a third-place finish in the GLVC with an 8-3-2 record.

Drury is 12-4-2 overall and allowed just seven goals this season to rank third in the nation in goals against average (0.376). Sanderson is second in the nation in save percentage (0.922) and seventh in goals against average (0.409). She has posted nine shutouts overall in 2007 and collected 83 saves while surrendering seven goals.
