I’ve had a chance to talk to many of you during the course of games this season and one of the first questions I get is the status of SGFsoccer.com - The Magazine. The interest is gratifying and helps reinforce my belief that it is a service the community wants and needs.
However, I’m sorry to say that I was unable to deliver on my plans this season. There are a number of reasons but ultimately I didn’t get it done. I have contacted the majority of my advertisers and they have all been understanding. I am fortunate because the support they provide is because they believe in what I am attempting to accomplish with this website and The Magazine. Thanks to Pension Consultants, Harry Cooper Supply Co, Christenson Transportation, Lake Country Soccer, Springfield - Greene County Parks and the KC Wizards I will be able to continue my efforts.
That is because I have not given up my plans to publish The Magazine. I have the two feature stories, including the cover story on Jack Jewsbury and an interview with Mr Harry Cooper on his family and their contributions to the soccer community. I have over 10,000 photos to choose from and a girls season to feature in April. It will also be the start of a new MLS season.
I also need to say thank you to all of the Coaches in the region who provided me with the information on their team that I needed. The goal is for The Magazine to be something you’ll want to carry with you throughout the season and set aside as a memento of your son or daughters season in the sun. I appreciate your support and look forward to continue my coverage of your efforts via the website and future issues.
So look for more news this Winter as I begin to pull together the April 2008 issue. I still need advertisers, both for this website and The Magazine, if I am to continue covering the sport at the level I have provided.
