Very limited internet access downtown today, so I’ll provide a quick update and be back with plenty of photos over the next day or two. I attended five matches today, beautiful weather, some good soccer and some goodbyes.
Missouri State Lady Bears defeated Drake University today, 1-0, on a header by Allie Osmundson on the edge of the six yard box. It came from a free kick by x from 25 yards out near the left touchline. It was 60 minutes into the match and the Bears held off Northern Iowa while flexing their new attacking skills from the 4-4-2 system they moved to a couple of weeks ago. It moves the ladies to 2-1-1 in the MVC following their 4-0 win on Friday against Northern Iowa. They host Illinois State on Friday night in their last home game of the season.
Drury Lady Panthers defeated the Northern Kentucky Norse women 2-0. The claimed 3rd place in the Conference with the win. Their first appearance in the GLVC tournament will be a home game, next Sunday at 1:00 pm. The opponent will be Wisconsin-Parkside, a team they lost to 0-1 on the road last week. Senior goalkeeper Barri Bulla, forward Rachel Rasbold and midfielder Jessie Sierzchula were honored today.
The men fall by an 0-2 difference, ending their Conference and home schedule. They’ll play at Truman State next weekend. Seniors Cody Reinberg, Nick Washam, Cesar Cereijo and James Adabie were honored prior to the game.
There will also be photos from the Thompson Fall Classic at Lake Country Soccer. I attended the U18 Springfield SC game against JB Marine - Reinhardt, U17 Mambas vs KC FC Alliance and U17 Total Demize vs KC FC Alliance.
