Thursday’s Game Reports

Cassville Wildcats - 4 (PK’s)
Carthage Tigers - 3
The Wildcats defeated the Carthage Tigers in penalty kicks this evening, following a 3-3 tie after two OT periods. Cassville took the lead in the first half when Uziel Franco earned a goal on a PK after being tripped up in the box. Cassville’s 1-0 lead held up until half-time. In the second half, Carthage came out strong and scored three unanswered goals to gain the 3-1 advantage. Carthage goals were scored by Cole Beckham, Mario Perez (Beckham assist) and Phillip Devillers (Matt Robertson assist). With only 10 minutes left in the game, Ryan Schlichtman scored on an assist by Franco and then three minutes later Schlichtman found the back of the net again to tie up the game at 3-3. After two scoreless 10-minute overtimes, the game went to penalty kicks and Cassville came out on top 5-3. The Wildcats’ keeper Anthony Larson saved two PKs to give Cassville the win. The Wildcats’ record is now 14-1.

In a game between two of the newest programs in the Ozarks (Crocker is playing in their second season, with a coed squad) the Irish took a 5-0 lead in the first half. Crocker’s goal came early in the second half from Kyle Wells when his long ball into the box took a bounce that surprised the keeper and slipped past him. Catholic got a hat trick from Justin Bowenschulte, a pair from Matt Libel and one from Cullen Barr. The Irish play in the Kickapoo Shootout this weekend.

Lebanon Yellowjackets - 0
Goals came in the 10 min from junior forward Jeff Moffitt off a header from senior midfielder Zach Helms. Senior midfielder Ethan Castle was able to connect on a shot from just outside the eight yard box in the 15th minute. In the second half junior Jeff Moffitt finished the scoring in the 50th min on a freekick from outside the box. The Lakers are now 9-8-1 on the season with games against Conference opponent Parkview on Tuesday and district rival Jefferson City on Thursday.
