The Cubs clinched the National League Central title tonight, with help from Greg Maddux - “It’d be nice to go out and win a ballgame, and huddle around the TV and hope Greg Maddux can help us out,” Chicago’s Mark DeRosa said of the former Cubs pitcher who was starting Friday for San Diego against the Milwaukee Brewers. “He owes it to the Cubbies.”
The Chicago Cubs also set a single-season attendance record by reaching 3,211,098 fans in their 80th home date this year at Wrigley Field, soaring past the previous record mark of 3,170,184 set in 2004. The Cardinal’s should be ashamed given the greater size of their stadiums.
Maybe we can get Paul Sullivan (Mizzou 1980) to sing a few bars of “Go Cubs Go” sometime soon!
