KC Wizards Hand Galaxy Three Points

KC Wizards Logo Took advantage of the infrequent opportunity to catch the KC Wizards on the weekly Thursday night MLS broadcast tonight. The boys in blue set a new attendance record according to the announcers with over 38000 in attendance on what was supposed to be David Beckham’s visit. They also found a way to allow the Galaxy to win their first road game this season, losing 0-1 on a 79th minute goal by Gavin Glinton.

The opportunity came while the Wizards were short-handed, after Jimmy Conrad was sent to the showers with a red card for dangerous tackle on Peter Vagenas. Conrad’s came immediately after he had been taken down without a call. It was also two minutes after the Wizards could have gone up 1-0 if Eddy Colombano had been able to finish the break away goal that found him unmarked and facing an empty net. He shot wide right.

The Wizards move to 10-11-6 on the season and missed an opportunity to put space between them and the teams below them in the table with only three games remaining. There is one home game left, as DC United returns Friday October 5th. You may recall DC United defeated the Wizards 0-1 on July 4th at Arrowhead.

Oh, and quote of the broadcast – Jack Jewsbury graduated from ‘chick-a-poo’ high school, the same school Brad Pitt graduated from.

  1. Andy says:

Steve, so glad that you heard the comment about Jewsbury I just laughed really hard.

Both red cards very good cards.

  2. Joseph Florez says:

We took a group of about 30 Parkview boys up to the game, it was a good time. I’d have to agree about the cards being good ones, and I’d also add that Colombano was very unimpressive. Nice big crowd though, it’s just too bad that when the Wizards get a chance to show a big crowd what they can do, they go and lose to one of the worst teams in the league instead.
