Brian Fishback (Parkview 2005) got both goals on Friday in leading the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds to a 2-1 overtime win over the Panthers. Marco Cherisma scored his league leading 13th in the match at Indianapolis. The goals were Fishback’s eight and ninth of the season, and his fifth straight match scoring.
Sunday saw the men bounce back and defeat St Josephs 3-0 on Sunday, evening their GLVC record at 3-3. Steve Wilczewski (Glendale 2006) scored a pair in the win, including the game winner in the 5th minute.
The women also lost in Indianapolis, by a score of 0-1, on a goal by Monique Gamble in the 62nd minute. The Panthers were outshot 3-11 although they held the advantage in corner kicks 6-3.
The women are 3-2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference after their 0-0 tie against St Josephs. Jesse Sanderson (Jeff City 2007) saved six shots in double overtime.
The University of Missouri - Rolla Miner’s gave up two goals on corner kicks Friday, eventually losing to regional #1 Northern Kentucky.
On Sunday, the Miners lost to Bellarmine 0-1 on a direct kick from just outside the box in the 12th minute. They host Truman State (and Nick Schlichtman, Cassville 2006) on Sunday.
The women took an early 2-0 lead in their game against the #9 ranked Lady Norse only to see the visitors storm back with three goals of their own in the second half for a 2-3 loss on Friday night.
In their game Sunday against Bellarmine, the Miners ended a five game losing streak while battling to a 0-0 tie with the Knights. They now stand at 0-5-1 in the GLVC. They head to Indianapolis to play Saginaw Valley State on Saturday.
