There are some excellent women’s college soccer matches on tap this weekend. The MIAA race looks extremely competitive and the current number 1, University of Central Missouri , is visiting Missouri Southern and Southwest Baptist this weekend.
The UCM Jennie’s are 3-0 in the Conference, ranked #8th in the country, and take on the Missouri Southern Lions at 4:00 pm today. The Lions have averaged 2.3 goals per game this season, but scored only three in their three MIAA matches to this point. Southern does have in their favor the conference’s top defense (0.69 GAA).
Southwest Baptist will host UCM on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Like the Lion’s, they are 2-1 in the Conference and ranked 7th in the Region, just behind Missouri Southern at #6 and Truman State at #5. The Bearcats knocked off Truman State 1-0 last week so this weekend should help establish the early pecking order in the race for Conference seedings.
To the Northeast, the UMR Miners are hosting Northern Kentucky tonight at 5:00 pm and Bellarmine on Sunday at noon. Northern Kentucky women are ranked #2 in the Great Lakes Region meaning their difficult early schedule is not getting any easier. The Men play #1 ranked Northern Kentucky at 7:30 pm and 2:30 pm following the women’s games.
