Thats right, the big game for our local participants in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) is tonight. The Baptist Bible College Patriots hosts Central Bible College Spartans at Cooper #2 beginning at 7:00 pm. Springfield bragging rights are at stake.

CBC Spartan logoThe Spartans are 1-4 but this is a team that finished 7th in the Nation last year with a 13-5 record and return their top two scorers in Cody Davis and Noah Lane. Cody has 5 goals in 5 games this year while Noah is at 2 goals in 3 games.

The Patriots are 3-3 going into tonights game and will be missing their speedy freshman forward Tim Dimakos who was injured against Calvary Baptist. The three seniors on the team offered these quotes in advance of the game:

Trent Goodin-Senior, Baptist Bible College

CBC is the biggest game of the year. No matter what our record is we always want to play perfect that game. Everyone has a lot of adrenaline rushing and it fills us as if we have more energy than we ever had. There are a lot of fans for both teams and it is an awesome time for both, the teams and the fans.

Greg goodin-Senior, Baptist Bible College

I feel like when we play CBC it doesn’t matter what our records are for either team, we both show up and seem to play our best game that night. Neither teams wants to loose nor does it not seem that either team gets tired. The fans make the experience even more intense. They come with chants and energy built up all through out the day. this is a game that we can not loose for ourselves or our fans.

Matt Conley-Senior, Baptist Bible College

Is the only game of the year that I mark on my calendar. To me there is no bigger game on the schedule. There’s just something about the atmosphere between the teams and the fans that makes me want to play at my highest potential. It is a great rivalry and I can’t wait!

You know how much I love Derbies. You can expect to see me on the sidelines although the lighting may limit the photographic output tonight. More time to enjoy the game!
