The Drury Panthers women shut out the Missouri - Rolla Miners by a 1-0 score Tuesday evening. The goal was scored by freshman Aly Reynolds in the 10th minute. UMR had a 12-7 edge in shots in the opening half. Its best scoring chance in the first half came when Tabitha Ausman got loose on a breakaway, but was stopped by goalkeeper Jessie Sanderson.
The Lady Miners had a chance to tie in the second half as well, but had that attempt stopped by a defender at the goal line. Freshman keeper Jessie Sanderson picked up another shutout victory, getting credit for seven saves in the contest. Drury was out-shot in the contest 19-12.
On Sunday at Missouri - St Louis, Micah Little scored in the 32 minute from an assist from freshman Aly Reynolds to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead that stood at halftime. Then Mandi Little scored off a pass from her sister less than three minutes into the second half to provide Drury the 2-0 advantage. Freshman Jessie Sanderson earned the shutout and was credited with seven saves as Drury won despite being out-shot 17-4.
The wins push Drury’s records to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in GLVC play entering a key pair of weekend home games with Quincy (5 p.m. Friday) and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (noon on Sunday). The Lady Miners fell to 3-3 and 0-2.
