Some good stuff going on for players who have moved on into the college ranks
Jessica Yach (Nixa 2007) scored three goals in the 4-1 opening game win for the NAIA Missouri Valley Vikings against Harris-Stowe last weekend while teammate Regina Bodine (Willard 2007) is anchoring the defense UPDATE – Head Coach Boyna Bear checked in with these comments
Jessie and Regina had a very impressive preseason and both earned starting positions for our 1st game against Harris Stowe. It didn’t take long for both of them to make their mark on the collegiate game. Jessie scored goals in the 17th & 18th minute and again in the 76th minute and was always a threat offensively. As well as Jessie played offensively, Regina played just as good defensively. Regina’s tenacity, decision making, and adaptability were key in our opening day win. You are completely on the money when you said that these girls will never quit…we had a tough game against #8 McKendree last night but they fought hard till the very end….we are very fortunate to have them as part of our program.
Luke Prater (Kickapoo 2007) has played in all three games, starting twice, for the undefeated and #4 ranked Division III Wartburg College Knights squad in Waverly IA.
Elle Holtman (Springfield Catholic 2007) has played in all four games for the Division II Rockhurst Hawks. She is either the first or second substitute and is playing in the midfield. Rockhurst is at UM-Rolla on Sunday and will play in Springfield against Drury on September 26th in a GLVC game.
Scott Miller (Jeff City Helias 2007) has is starting at outside defense for Division I Marquette University. Marquette plays in the Big East and lost their openers to Denver University and UIC, an NCAA qualifier last year. Scott is Tara Bailes cousin and my nephew’s former teammate on Busch/St Louis SC – Brcic squad.
