Plenty of action to consider this week but first I’d like to stop and take a moment to recognize a remarkable accomplishment. Coach Jeff Rogers has led the Glendale Falcon’s to 499 wins. That accomplishment, spanning 17 boys seasons and 13 girls seasons, is dwarfed by the impact on the players, parents and members of the soccer community he has touched in that time period. I count myself in those numbers. His support has made a huge difference in this website and what I’ve been able to accomplish.
He’s got two opportunities to reach 500 this week, I think you want to put both of them on your calendar:
6:30 pm Tuesday at Glendale HS - Waynesville Tiger’s visiting
6:30 pm Wednesday at Cooper Soccer Complex - Falcon’s vs Chief’s
Jeff and I sat down last week to talk about this record in depth so there will be more when he hits 500. There are two more coaches in this region on the same cusp - Mike Howard of the Rolla Bulldogs and Tom Davidson of the Ozark Tigers. These three gentlemen, pictured above at the NSCAA Convention in 2006, have a combined record of 1416-489-183, 48 district championships, 41 conference championships, 25 quarterfinal appearances and 5 Final Fours between them. I expect that Mike and Tom will both hit this milestone sometime next Spring during the girls season.
