Crowder College Is Adding Men’s Soccer (NJCAA Div 1)

The Neosho Daily News indicates that the regional junior college program has approved the addition of soccer.

Beginning next fall, Crowder College will have added men’s soccer to its list of athletic offerings. The NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Division I sports program was approved Thursday by the college’s board of trustees.

Once implemented, the men’s soccer team will boast one full scholarship player, 11 partial scholarship players and accept at least three walk-ons.

Writer Wes Franklin goes on to provide an excellent background peak at what it takes to run a program, from funding the scholarships. the staff, travel and more. It’s in-depth enough to be a News story, rather than a Sports story at the Daily News.

The Crowder College Roughriders play their home games at the campus in Neosho, MO and thus becomes a great addition to the regional opportunities.
