Missouri Boys High School Soccer Season Begins

Missouri Boys Soccer Opens Fall Practice It’s upon us. The Missouri boys soccer season has begun with preseason practice. I took a quick trip over to Kickapoo High School to say hello to Head Coach Phil Hodges (pictured at left), who begins his first season at the helm of the Kickapoo Chiefs. Nice crowd out, with over 35 boys taking advantage of the relatively cool morning in what will be two-a-days for the Chiefs for at least a couple of weeks.

I also discovered that the Chief’s Heath Melugin shook hands with the Missouri State staff Friday, making a verbal commitment to play for the Bears next year. Tara Bailes of Springfield Catholic made the same commitment with the Lady Bears 10 days ago. Great news and something I’ll explore further with an in-depth interview with each of them later this month. Woo hoo!

Congrats to Heath. I’m glad you are staying close to home so we can all watch you play. That adds another local player for all the fans to watch at the local college level. Good luck to Drury & MSU. Keep recruiting locally and I think the local fans will help support the teams by attending more games!!
