Willard Middle School Soccer Tryouts

The Willard Middle School Boy’s Soccer Team will begin training in early August. Because the school does not sponsor soccer through the MSHSAA organization, middle school soccer plays through the Lake Country Soccer program. An added benefit to this is that 6th grade boys are eligible to participate, therefore, any boys attending Willard schools this fall that will be in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade are eligible to participate!

Dates:

Thursday, August 2nd, 6:00 PM
Monday, August 6th, 6:00 PM
Thursday, August 9th, 6:00 PM

Location:

Willard City Park Soccer Fields

I wonder why the school can not support its team? In my opinion, it is very discouraging that pupils have to look for support from other organizations.

    Lucy,

I’m working on a history of soccer in the region and I believe it’s a quirk. When High School soccer was added in the Springfield School District, Lake Country Soccer targeted the middle school age group. The program has been successful enough that nothing has changed in that regard. I’d suggest working with the administration to ensure that notice is sent out to all incoming students of the availability of the LCS Middle School soccer program and then support the coaches who volunteer their time.

Look for my story on Harry Cooper and Lake Country Soccer in the upcoming magazine that comes out next month.
