In a game that started fast and physical, the Thunder Bay Chill scored three goals in the first 34 minutes and then fought to hold that lead to the end. While the Lions looked to draw first blood early, earning a set piece that sent a high ball into the box looking for Tommy Heinemann in the 2nd minute, it was the Chill that set the tone with their tackling and in the 6th minute, their scoring. The goal was sweet, hit hard and high, striking the underside of the crossbar before settling in the net. It was the third goal scored within the first ten minutes in three straight games by ..
In the 24th, a well-placed ball over the defense was run onto by #10. He touched it down via his chest and found his path unimpeded by a defender, finishing with a simple touch to the right as the goalkeeper and a defender reached him. The third goal in the 34th minute will haunt the Lion’s as the Division race reaches its conclusion later this month, a defensive mistake with a poor pass out of the back going to a Chill midfielder who immediately sent #24 into the box where he finished clinically.
The Lion’s responded with a goal of their own in the 44th, something the Chill allowed in their game against the Menace last Saturday, a 5-2 loss. In this case, St Louis’ tricky forward #12 took advantage of the defense when he unleashed a hard shot to the upper right corner from 30 yards out.
It got even more physical in the second half, with five cautions handed out and an ejection for the Chill in the 55th minute. Woody – describe the action please.
