US Women Take On Brazil This Afternoon - ESPN2

The Women’s World Cup is going to sneak up on me real quick if I don’t get moving here soon. In fact, I could use some help in that regard. Anyone out there interested in becoming a special correspondent, focused on getting us all up to speed on the Women’s National Team and the Cup this Fall? If so, contact me and let’s get something going for everyone’s sake!

In the meantime, set the recorder or tune in today at 4:00 pm today to see the ladies in this important preparation match. The last time these two met the US required OT to get past them in the Gold medal game at the 2004 Olympics.

    okay, but the road

The U.S. played well for a 2-0 victory. Brazil was without Marta, one of their best strikers, as she was not released by her club team for the match. Kristine Lilly scored on a beautiful set piece, bending the ball around the wall and beating the keeper. Abby Wambach got the second goal on a 45 yard ball from the back when she lost her mark and headed the ball past the keeper. The game was very physical with 5 yellow cards given in the first half alone.
