The Springfield Soccer Club provided this report on the recent tournament in Memphis - This past Memorial Day weekend in Memphis, TN the Springfield Soccer Club once again had a very strong showing in tournament play. Playing in the Memphis Invitational Tournament was a finale in tournament play for many of SSC’s teams and they all showed well. In particular the U-11 Red Boys, U-11 Red Girls, U-12 Red Boys (pictured), U-13 Boys and the U-15 Boys all took home the championship titles in their age groups. Also the U-18 Boys team took home 2nd place that weekend. All in all, of the 9 teams that SSC sent to Memphis 6 made the finals, and 5 won 1st place.
The Memphis Invitational Tournament is known as one of the top tournaments for the Memorial Day weekend in the region. SSC showed they are once again one of the top clubs in the region and enjoyed success against many of the top clubs from states such as, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, New York and Arkansas. What a great way for many of SSC teams to finish their seasons by being able to play clubs they normally don’t get to play against and also have great success against those clubs.

The memphis tournament was the last tourny that Joe Kofron will coach the u11 red girls as he is now coaching the SCHS boys high school team. I am so happy that the girls pulled this out for Joe. He has been the driving force behind them for all of their soccer lives. I feel so grateful that my daughter has had the opportunity to play for Joe and we will all miss him on the girls u11 red team.
