The #4 Nixa Jr. Eagles ran into a juggernaut last night during the first semifinal game against #1 Catholic. The Irish are now 9-0 on the season and have given up only a single goal in that period. Despite the odds, the Eagles pushed forward at every opportunity and came close several times. The Irish got two goals in the first and another four in the second, to win 6-0 and move into another Final. The Eagles finished 4-3-2 and put a smile on Evan Palmer’s face (Nixa Head Coach) as he enjoyed the quality of play from the future Eagles.
The #2 Pershing Generals faced off against the #3 Bolivar Liberators in the nightcap. The Generals took the wind with the coin toss and combined with the speed of their forwards, in particular Emily Cline, were able to generate some early attacks. The Liberators sagged but weren’t broken until an unfortunate collision between teammates forced a field player to take over goalkeeping duties for Bolivar. Pershing took advantage to score a pair of goals for an early lead. The final was 5-1.
The Final will be a rematch of last years game, won by Pershing 2-0 last May.

It is the Catholic Girls sixth consecutive appearance in the Middle School Championship game, but they have gone 1-5 in that time period including three losses to Pershing in the championship game in the past four years.
If I am not mistaken, those Pershing 8th grade girls have only lost one Varsity match since they started middle school. (They lost to Catholic earlier this season).
The Pershing Girls will be going for their 7th Middle School Championship. It would be a three-peat for the Generals.
Go Generals!
