Congratulations to the Springfield Demize who defeated the Rapids U23 team 3-1 this evening. The first goal scored on their home pitch was deposited in the back of the net by James Eloy in the 20th minute. The assist is credited to Yanick Noah (MSU) but the opportunity was created by Brett Thomas who’s run from 40 yards out on the right side straight at the goal drew defenders and created space and opportunity for Eloy. The second goal came in the 46th minute as the Demize attacked immediately down the right flank. Omar Shoucair (MSU) collected a ball and was allowed to run from the right to the left across the top of the box. His shot through a crowd caught the goalkeeper flat-footed, all he could do was react to it as it crossed the end line into his net (pictured above). The third goal was scored by Andrew Bordelon who was sent in alone by a fine pass from the left side by Atila Mota (Central 2006). Bordelon’s finish was clinical, slipping it over the top of the charging goalkeeper. The Demize gave up a goal to the Rapids in stoppage time but earned a key early win in the race for a spot in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Did I mention the Rapids are defending champions in the Division the past two years?

I had no idea we had soccer like this in SW Missouri. The level of play was incredible and I think I enjoyed this game more than I liked the Wizards v MSU game.
Heck there must have been 500 fans there and I just happened to get a free ticket. Otherwise I wouldn’t have known about it. Whoever gave me the ticket thanks a mil! I’ll definitely be back to see more.
Btw I didn’t even know that the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup existed before last night.
Great game and good luck!

Thank you to everyone who attended the game. If it wasn’t for you (the fans) there would be no Springfield Demize. There will be even more quality and entertaining soccer to come. Please check the website for upcoming events and chalk the Demize on your calanders. My hats off to the fans. Cheers.

Head Coach – Springfield Demize.
This is one the best matches I’ve seen in person since leaving the East Coast. The speed, physical play, skills, finishing & saves were all top-notch. Due to gas prices, I may take in less Wizzard’s games this year. If the play continues to be as good as the Demize Opener, the USL will provide as much excitement and save me the 3 hour drive. All Springfield soccer fans should take in a match this season to see the game played at the highest level possible in SW MO…all of those new to the sport should definetly see a match to appreciate that the game provides thrills like any other sport in the US. If your kids have introduced you to soccer because of their participation, come see the game played by guys in their prime after years of training and dedication. I believe you’ll leave with more appreciation for the game your kids enjoy and you’ll have a good time with them as well.
I am a member of the Springfield Demize and I also enjoyed this past weekend’s soccer festivities. I am a native of South Florida that always thought that soccer was the key to my success. So far, soccer has taken me up and down the east coast, over international waters, and Springfield, Mo. I hope that the type of support that was displayed this past weekend continues because it will enable to become better at my game if the fans are expecting a show from the Demize. Nevertheless, stay tune because the best is yet to come.
I have to agree with Brian McConnaughy this game was far more exciting than the Wizards and MSU.
My son plays soccer and my husband is a big fan of Latin American soccer which we watch alot of. But I have to say this game was just as exciting as the ones I watch on Foxsports plus it was right here in our own back yard.
Everyone that loves soccer definitely should come out and experience this talented group of men. Here’s to a great season and let’s keep supporting our newest semi-pro team to Springfield.
