Missouri Girls Soccer State Poll

April 6, 2007 by Ole · 1 Comment

The first poll has been released. Congratulations to the Springfield Catholic Fightin’ Irish who earn some early recognition for their work so far. There is a long way to go. If they can avoid the injury bug (they lost Kathleen Garrison to a season-ending ACL injury in the second match of the season) they have a chance to return their seniors to a second Final Four tournament.

Class 1
1 – Duchesne (9) 90
2 – St. Dominic (1) 76
3 – Visitation 66
4 – Notre Dame de Sion 46
5 – Springfield Catholic43
6 – O’Hara 32
7 – John Burroughs 30
8 – Trinity 29
8 – Rosati-Kain 29
10 – Cape Notre Dame 27
11 – John F. Kennedy 13
11 – Smithville 13
11 – Notre Dame (St. Louis) 13
14 – MICDS 10
14 – Warrensburg 10
Others: Hannibal (7), Moberly (7), Kearney (6), Fulton (4), Kirksville (3), Platte County (2)

In Class 2, the Glendale Falcons earn recognition as the early leader in this region. They play the three time Arkansas state champion Rogers Mountaineers today, a team that beat Kickapoo 2-0 in the Chiefs first game of the season. Let’s watch for that result. I’m not certain why Lafayette, a Final Four team last year that returns a strong junior class (several of Chelsea Russell’s club teammates from the St Louis Soccer Club Miller squad that has a national title), should be so low. Keep an eye on them. Finally, Rolla visits St Louis this weekend for the Hazelwood Central tournament and they’ll face off against Hazelwood West tonight. I plan on attending their game tomorrow against Carbondale (IL, home of SIU)

Class 2
1 – Incarnate Word (4) 102
2 – St. Teresa’s (3) 100
3 – Nerinx Hall 87
4 – Ft. Zumwalt West 86
5 – Oakville 73
6 – Lee’s Summit North 66
7 – Cor Jesu 51
7 – St. Joseph’s 51
9 – Liberty 47
10 – Glendale 33
11 – Jackson 30
11 – Park Hill South 30
13 – Ft. Zumwalt South 19
14 – Lee’s Summit 13
15 – Lafayette 12
Others: Rock Bridge (9), Park Hill (5), Rockwood Summit (5), Hazelwood West (4), Kickapoo (4), Parkway West (4), Parkway South (4), Helias (3), Lindbergh (1), Rolla (1)
