Everyone is home from Spring Break so other then the occasional day off it’s time to get down to business throughout the region. No more testing line ups or talking about how early in the season it is. There are five weeks left before District Playoffs, the Tournament schedule gets very crowded in two weeks. Now is the time …
Tuesday night Waynesville visits Kickapoo. This game could be very interesting. Both teams will have chips on their shoulders with Kickapoo out to show why it took Catholic nine years to earn their first win over the Chiefs, Waynesville out to show they deserve the early season ranking they received. Waynesville is faster and more physical than Catholic. I plan on checking this one out!
Thursday Ozark and Nixa square off in the Christian County derby. The game is at Nixa which is playing at McAuley Park this year, which is 1/4 mile East of Nixa Jr HS. From the map it looks like Hwy 65 is as easy a means of getting there as Hwy 160.
Plenty of other action outside of High School. Southwest Baptist visits Drury University on Wednesday evening. 6:00 pm at Harrison Stadium. The Drury men will make their first home appearance this week as well, on Thursday evening against UMKC. 5:00 pm at Harrison.
The Champions League is down to the final eight and ESPN2 is showing games Tuesday and Wednesday at 1:30 pm. PSV Eindhoven vs Liverpool and Roma vs ManU respectively. Or in the evening catch our own version of the Champions League, the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Fox Soccer Channel required, DC United Tuesday evening, Houston Dynamo on Thursday.
And don’t forget that my favorite summer sport opens the season this week. The Colorado Rapids and DC United face off on Saturday at 2:30 pm in the Major League Soccer opener. You didn’t think I was talking about the Cardinal’s did you? Kirk Elmquist, Mike Lindskog and the local boys is something I’ll have take in this year but any good Cub’s fan loves to cheer on the Met’s (also known as “pond scum”) when they play the Cardinal’s.
PS - I’m in St Louis for Easter weekend and rumor has it the Rolla Bulldogs have a pair of tournament games in that neck of the woods. I hope to check out Howard’s newest squad while also getting some ‘home cooking’!

You forgot to mention Spurs’ game against Sevilla (voted the UEFA team of the year last year-ahead of Barcelona) in the UEFA Cup QF live on FSC on Thursday…but I’ll forgive you!
