Coach Brian Schibi and his girls team are hosting their annual tournament this week, with eight teams playing a total of ten games. Here are the scores from Thursday night’s Black Division opening matches:
Neosho Wildcats – 2
Springfield Greenwood – 0
Katy Rodriguez scored her 91st and 92nd career goals to lift Neosho to victory. Rodriguez scored in the 43rd minute off a free kick from 25 yds. out, unassisted and the 62nd minute; a header off a corner kick sent in by senior Sarah Marak.
Joplin McAuley – 2
Van Buren (AR) – 0
McAuley’s Caley Churchwell scored in the 46th minute to put in the first goal in a scoreless dual. In the 55th minute, Alli O”Dell scored the final goal of the game on a beautiful 25 yd. one touch into the back of the net to give McAuley the 2-0 win.
Tonight the Gold Division will play with Joplin facing Hillcrest at 5:00 pm and West Plains and Parkview playing at 6:30pm.
Saturday there will be games in the winners and losers brackets. We’ll know who the tournament winner is following the completion of the championship game that begins at 7:30pm. I’ve updated the Calender to reflect all of the games in the tournament. And from the northside:
Camdenton Lakers – 0
Hickman Kewpies – 1
The Lady Lakers held Hickman scoreless for 79 minutes before a foul in the penalty area resulted in a penalty kick for Hickman where Lady Kewpie junior Lauren Robb scored the game winner.
