Rolla Bulldogs Preview

From the Rolla Daily News and Seth Sowers, Sports Editor comes this look - Lady Bulldogs looking to break through with younger players

The Lady Bulldogs have lost 10 seniors to graduation, including eight starters. Gone is Autumn McEachern, Rolla’s second all-time leading goal scorer. Gone are all-staters Sophie Cox and Emily Moorkamp. Gone too are highly-decorated players such as Rachel Moore, Kelsey McFarland, Kate Spooner, Rebecca Blum, and Courtney Shaw.

All of the losses to graduation have apparently made area coaches forget about Rolla’s 68-3-2 all-time record in the Ozark Conference. The Lady Bulldogs are predicted to finish just fourth in the conference behind Waynesville, Glendale, and Kickapoo.

New facility - The wait is over. The Lady Bulldogs will play their first game at the brand new Kiwanis Field at the Bray Sports Complex today. The season opener Tuesday was rained out so the first game will be tonight at the Rolla Tournament.

“I love it. You can say Calli hearts the new field. Its surface is so smooth. It’s smooth as a baby’s bottom,” said Captain Calli Collier. “It’s just really neat, since we have a lot of new talented girls, it’s a new beginning in a lot of ways. It should be exciting.”
