District 10 Previews

I’ve been searching the internet on your behalf to find articles on the teams you want to watch this year. The The Jefferson City News-Leader provides a pair of previews of their local teams:

Jefferson City Jays Look To Improve Seven 1-0 losses, with another defeat coming in penalty kicks. It was a frustrating 2006 soccer season for the Jefferson City Lady Jays. “That’s eight of our 10 losses,” Lady Jays coach Chris Miller said. “It wasn’t like we didn’t have opportunities.”

As always, Helias starting soccer season by concentrating on defense Helias, which opens the season Monday at home against the Lebanon Lady Yellowjackets, have just five new players on the varsity roster from last year’s district finalist. “And there are some kids on the JV right now who are going to push for some spots,” Register said. “It’s going to be a matter of who produces is going to play.

And the Columbia Tribune updates us on Columbia Rock Bridge, and new coach Kelly Gates (25) on the heels of their opening game 4-0 loss to Incarnate Word Academy Tuesday. The schedule doesn’t get any easier, with games against district foes Helias, Hickman and Jefferson City before April 11. Gates is moving up one step on the coaching ladder after serving as an assistant under Marc VanDover for the two previous seasons. Last season, the Bruins went 10-7-6 and lost to Hickman in the district tournament semifinals.
