Brian Bounds Hired By Kansas City Wizards

Bounds Soccer SystemsCongratulations are in order for Brian Bounds, Bounds Soccer Systems, who has achieved a long sought goal. He recently accepted a full-time position as Assistant Athletic Trainer with the KC Wizards of Major League Soccer.

The job is a new position, instituted by the new owners of the Wizards. On Goal LLC is a local ownership group, committed to keeping the Wizards in Kansas City and establishing the team as a model within Major League Soccer. This is a small but telling step in that direction. It doesn’t hurt that it’s a member of the Springfield Soccer community that is being given the opportunity.

Here’s a short video interview I did with him so you can hear it directly. Using my Nokia 6682 mobile phone. Well done Brian!lodon escorts

A Shout Out To Erik & Lane Chapman

Eric & Lane Chapman Ladies and Gents, I’d like to introduce you to a pair of new boys in town. Eric and Lane Chapman arrived in Springfield a few days ago, after a visit to family in Kansas in time for Christmas. The boys and their parents moved here from Adelaide Australia, where they have lived for the past 10 years.

Erik (on the left) completed his secondary education on December 15th in Adelaide Australia and is enrolling at Missouri State. He’s been invited to train with the soccer team during the Spring semester. Lane (on the right) is enrolling at Kickapoo for the Spring semester where he’ll be a sophomore.

I took this picture at the Lake Country Soccer dome on Friday evening where the boys were observing the Bounds Soccer Systems training session. Expect to see them participating at the remaining sessions as well as around the area as they get to know the Springfield Soccer community. Be certain to say hello, they love the game the way we do!outcall escorts in dubai

Matt Pickens Invited to US MNT Camp

Former Missouri State Bear player Matt Pickens (2001-2003), starting goalkeeper for the Chicago Fire, was recently selected to participate in the US Men’s National Team Camp that will be run by new Interim Head Coach Bob Bradley and his assistant, Piotr Nowak.

U.S. Soccer today announced Chicago Fire goalkeeper Matt Pickens has been named to the 29-man roster that will participate in the upcoming U.S. Men’s National Team camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Pickens was named to the roster by U.S. MNT Head Coach Bob Bradley as a replacement for Chivas USA goalkeeper and Homer Glen, Ill. native Brad Guzan, who will miss the camp after suffering a back injury earlier this month.

The Missouri State product made the most of his opportunity in the starting role by earning Honda Player of the Month honors for September, in which he went 4-2-0 with a 0.83 goals against average (GAA) in helping the Fire clinch its spot in the 2006 MLS Cup Playoffs. Pickens collected all four wins for Chicago during the team’s run to a fourth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and finished the season with a 10-4-0 record, 1.06 GAA and four shutouts in regular season, Open Cup and playoff action combined.

The initial press release regarding the Camp can be seen by clicking on the link.

The camp will take place at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., as the U.S. begins preparations for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2007 Copa America. The first test for the Red, White and Blue in the New Year is against Denmark on Jan. 20 at The Home Depot Center (4:50 p.m. ET, ESPN2).

Springfield Soccer on your PDA

This is a post I’ve been meaning to write for two months now. I’ve been through a dozen PDA’s in the past decade and my most recent mobile device of choice has been the Palm Tungsten T2 that I can whip out and show my photos, even my soccer videos, in wonderful 320×320 color quality.

If you would like to have a portable version of this site and you are using any of the following devices – Palm (OS Version 4 or 5), Windows Mobile Pocket PC (CE version 3.0 or later), Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 or above, RIM BlackBerry Devices with RIM browser 3.7+, or Symbian OS running on Nokia or Sony-Ericsson phones – then you too can carry this sites content with you. In full color if you choose.

The key to the process is a wonderful software application called AvantGo. This application is free and in addition to allowing you to read my site, you can also choose from hundreds of other subscriptions from weather, national publications, ESPN, etc.

Go to the website at and register for a free account. Find your PDA device and download the software for your device. After you synch it the first time, under the settings category choose “Create Personal Channel” where you simply enter the address for this site (, check the boxes that include downloading images as well as following links if you have wireless support on your device and want to follow the links.

That’s it, it’s remarkably simple, enough that it’s my Dad’s new prefered choice for reading my site (and showing it to his friends 🙂 ).

I owe Russ White, a regular reader and soccer Dad of a Springfield SC youth player, both a hat tip and an apology for this post. The hat tip is for pointing me to the fact that he is reading my website on his PDA and an apology for not writing up his suggestions for how he accomplished that during the Fall season. So thank you Russ ( of RussnDDWhite ) for your great idea and your patience!

PS – I haven’t sorted out how to read comments or the pages on my site despite experimenting with several settings. I’m going to review Russ’ suggestions when I get back to town but if anyone else tries this and is successful with this piece, please let me know.
