I’ve been negligent in posting about this, due to my schedule and not having as much experience as I’d like to have with the programs and players. I was aware of the Creighton Blue Jays (think Johnny Torres, Creighton ‘97 All-American) since I had a buddy from Omaha who loved to argue with our friend who was an All-American soccer player at Evansville . After hitting the site though, I see I’ve had a better opportunity to see some top-ranked players then I realized in the four years of play I’ve enjoyed since arriving in Springfield. Especially on the women’s side since those programs are only ten years old.
So check out the Missouri Valley Centennial Celebration where you can vote for the best players including Sarah Guenther and Kate Hercules who have MVC Defensive Player of the Year on their resumes, or Chris Brunt and Mark Modersohn. And I have to admit to writing in the name Doug Lascody under midfielders! Go out and make certain to vote for Springfield Soccer representatives!
As a part of the Missouri Valley Conference Centennial Celebration, you are invited to participate in the selection of all-time teams in the Valley’s sponsored sports. The ballots are accessible through the links at the bottom, and you are limited to one ballot per site visit.
Team composition for each sport varies, and for your ballot to be valid, you must follow the procedures spelled out within each sport’s voting section. The list of nominees includes athletes who have earned a variety of All-America, all-Valley, and National Player of the Year recognitions. Nominations have been prepared by an MVC centennial committee but, remember, there is space provided for you to include any non-listed nominees as a write-in.
Hat tip to Nick Schmitt at West Plains.

Hello! I am Sarah Guenther’s mother. I was just looking around the web and ran across your remarks about her. Sarah had a great soccer career. She is a masters student and then on to phd.
You know what . . . MVC never notified her about the Centennial Team. A great honor that a friend ran across and informed her.
