The New York Times did a very nice article on Sunday regarding the advances that have occured in Lung transplants in the past few years, focusing on a young woman in Iowa who, in her words, “would have died without the improvements”. The young lady in question is my cousin’s youngest, Hannah, who received two new lungs in February.
She’s a remarkable young woman, who has lived her life with Cystic Fibrosis while smiling the entire time. She is attending college in Cedar Rapids now, focused on a career in the medical field so that she can help kids understand and get through the experiences she has faced. Read the article and consider signing the Organ Donor card on the back of your drivers license. Or visit the Organ Donor Registry for more information.
