Pretty straightforward this week since the high school games can’t begin until next Monday at the earliest.
The Drury Men and Women are headed for Joplin tonight, to take on the Missouri Southern Lions in a pair of exhibition matches. I think the games are scheduled for 5pm and 7pm on the MSSU campus.
The regular season kicks off for both of our local teams this Friday so you have a plethora of choices. Drury hosts Harding University with the men kicking off at 5:00 pm and the women will start at 7:00 pm. Games are played at Harrison Stadium, next to the Drury campus.
The Missouri State Bears will also be in action on Friday. The women host the Arkansas Razorbacks, the game is listed as being played at Cooper Soccer complex although there is no time available. The men are scheduled for 7pm that evening, hosting Oral Roberts University at Plaster Stadium.
Don’t ask me why they can’t schedule both of the games at Plaster Stadium, I don’t understand it either. Maybe they should pull some Title IX juice out. A football conflict possibly?
Druy also has a pair of matches scheduled for Sunday afternoon with the Texas A&M – Commerce squad comes to town. The women will play at 2:30 pm. Update – the men play at 5:00 pm against the Truman State Bulldogs, Coach Alf Bilbao’s former squad. Both games are at Harrison Stadium.
Missouri Southern is holding an invitational tournament this weekend as well, with games Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The men will host Missouri-Rolla, Christian Brothers (Memphis) and St. Mary’s (TX) for a round-robin event that kicks off at 5:00 pm Friday. The women host Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Northeastern State and UMSL. There will be two games on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm
